Saturday Morning Coffee with Ellie

We’re back with another morning coffee chat, this time with Ellie and her two estate cats Tommy and Timmy.

So tell us how you came to have your two furry sons in your life.

I actually bought them from a woman on Sphock, an online marketplace. They were from a rough estate and of course, I was only meant to take one, but after seeing the condition they were living in we had to take both! They’re now 4 and a half and have grown into beautiful big ginger boys.

Meant to be. Other than caring for your boys, what do you do for work? And if you had an absolute dream job what would that be?

We all live in Liverpool and I work as a Youth Offending Officer. My dream though would be to set up my own animal rescue charity abroad.

Ahh, that really would be the dream. Do you guys have a typical Saturday morning routine together?

Well I usually wake up and feed all animals, we have a dog Bella, as well as the two cats. Then usually it’s a walk for Bella, followed by cleaning the house with Tommy following me around for the rest of the day. The main thing I look forward to at the weekends is chilling with the animals!

The best way to spend a Saturday, surrounded by pets. Do you have any go-to weekend anthems?

Nothing in particular, but I’m usually blasting Kisstory Radio.

Let’s talk cats again, have you always known you were a cat person?

Oh definitely. I’ve had cats ever since I was born, and I knew I wanted feline company when I was buying a house of my own. They make it a home.

They really do. Do your two tabbies live life to any kind of schedule?

To be honest not really. We have a cat flap so Timmy goes out as and when he wants, whereas Tommy will sleep next to me all night and doesn’t really leave my side. He waits outside whilst I walk Bella then follows me all day. He sits on the bathroom side whilst I have a bath and comes in the bathroom whilst I’m having a wee, he’s like my shadow. I certainly don’t have much privacy…

Super adorable. Is there anything either of them hates with a passion?

Well despite following me everywhere, neither of them are lapcats and absolutely hate sitting on my knee!

And back to you, if you had £5 to spend on yourself over the weekend, what would be your treat?

Definitely junk food. We eat healthy all through the week so it’s nice to relax a bit and treat yourself at the weekend.

And what about the cats, are there any sneaky treats they’re allowed on weekends?

Yes actually, they both adore a little ham and cheese from time to time.
