But can cats eat chocolate? Though it\u2019s a super tasty treat for us humans, chocolate can hold a high toxicity for animals so let\u2019s find out whether or not chocolate is safe for cats to eat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Can my cat eat chocolate?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In short, it\u2019s a definite no! Chocolate ingredients include caffeine and theobromine which can be super dangerous for our kitties and even in some cases fatal if a very large quantity is consumed. These ingredients are highly toxic to our favourite felines so chocolate is a no-go. The higher the level of cocoa content, the higher the danger but it\u2019s best to be avoided altogether.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Signs of chocolate poisoning in cats<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re worried your cat might have eaten chocolate, here\u2019s what to look out for and when to call your vet:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Lack of appetite<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nausea and vomiting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Restlessness<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increased heart rate<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excessive thirst<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Panting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Seizures or tremors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If your cat is acting out of sorts and showing any of these symptoms, it is always worth calling your vet to be on the safe side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To avoid your cat being in any danger of chocolate toxicity, keep all your sweet treats safely stored away from prying paws.
