Is there a correct weight that puts your cat at health perfection and exactly how heavy should your cat be? It\u2019s super important to keep your cat at their healthiest weight so they\u2019re able to thrive through all of their nine lives. But how are you to know exactly what this weight is and how to achieve it for your feline?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s tricky as there\u2019s no perfect answer, and a cat\u2019s weight will be determined by many factors such as breed, age, if they\u2019re neutered and whether they\u2019re a male or female. Maine Coon cats are much larger than your regular mog, whereas Siamese breeds are super slight and slinky, so knowing how heavy they should be really will depend on lots of factors that your vet will be able to advise on. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a generalisation for most breeds, an ideal weight for your cat will mean you are able to easily feel their ribs but not visibly see them protruding. Cats should be sleek and athletic, and although most enjoy hours of snoozing each day, they should also be enjoying some play and stimulating activity whether they\u2019re outdoor or indoor cats in order to keep them healthy and active. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s impossible to identify the perfect average weight for all cats alike, we all know how individual and unique our favourite furballs are so there simply is no one rule for all. Keeping on top of regular vet visits and following a tailored feeding plan specifically designed for your cat should ensure they maintain a healthy weight for their breed and avoid them getting on the heavy side.
